Falconry is probably the most nature sensitive outdoor sport. Falconers utilize the natural resource in the most balanced manner. They borrow a young bird, usually for just a few months, from the natural stock and return it in as good or better shape than it started. Relying on the first year birds, 70% of which would normally not make it through their first year they give that individual a chance to make it to the next season and expand the gene pool for the future. Further falconers are by in large geared to do "what is best' for their bird feed, caring, nursing, and training it to be what it was meant to be. Most are returned to nature in the following spring stronger and better equipped to deal with life in nature. Because falconers are directly reliant on nature they become the care takers for for the entire ecosystem, simply because they are part of it. Falconry has no negative impact on the wild birds of prey, only positive. The government should be view falconry and falconers as a tool to measure the health specifically of will bird of prey populations and generally as a source of data for the overall health of the ecosystem. Any restriction on falconry outside of those identified and widely accepted in the existing international treaties is ridiculous. Those who are mis-informed will say man should not be part of the ecosystem....crazy we have been for several 100 thousand years. We have a duty to take care of it and its inhabitants. Falconry is one of the best tools for improving will raptor population, just lok at the success of Perigan Falcon populations. Use falconry as a tool to improve the world. Do not let those who do not understand how nature works regulate it to death, dooming the sport, losing a 1000 year old tradition, and further distancing the human population from its true roots as a participant in the natural world
