I am writing in support of the proposal to allow take of goshawks for falconry. I support the positions of the Ontario Hawking Club and the North American Falconers Association. Raptor harvest for the purpose of falconry has been repeatedly demonstrated through scientific study, by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, multiple US state agencies, and private organizations, to have zero impact on raptor populations. The failure to allow harvest by falconers of any raptor species with a healthy, stable population is to ignore science and is to deny appropriate access to an intangible cultural heritage.
