I support this proposal due to the fact that the current draw system disproportionally affects apprentice falconers and their ability to work with wild birds. The new proposal allows for every apprentice to practice falconry with a wild bird. Raptors captured from the wild are trained to hunt and survive, which makes them better suited to live in the wild once they have matured and been released.
The northern goshawk is a very popular bird and The Hawking Club has spearheaded a lot of efforts to monitor it's population. Adding it to the list of available birds to be captured will increase the chance of raptors surviving the first crucial year and help their population increase.
