I am completely in support of your proposed requirement for water bottling companies to receive the support of host communities before being allowed to apply for water bottling permits. However, the provision allowing companies to extract water WITHOUT THE HOST COMMUNITY’S PERMISSION for amounts up to 379,000 litres PER DAY is not acceptable. This loophole would mean that water bottle companies could continue their predatory water taking behaviours, just at a slower rate. I am also concerned with the allowance for companies to continue to extract water without the host community’s support in situations where they are already extracting water. This means that a community cannot change a company’s water extraction should the needs of their community change. Please reconsider these allowances for companies and instead consider the needs of the communities and their citizens for water as more important than those of the companies that needlessly package water in wasteful packaging.
