The proposal says that municipal approval of a water taking for the purpose of bottling will help further protect water resources. How specifically is this achieved? A municipal decision is expected to be based on factors other than science-based ones. Read more

I urge the Ontario government to pass the amendment to give municipalities more say in whether or not their water is taken for bottling purposes. I also would encourage a stipulation that any bottling processes are secondary to the needs of the community, especially in emergency situations.

I was pleased to hear that on Friday, October 9, Jeff Yurek attended a (physically distanced) meeting in the CW Council chambers. As a member of Save Our Water in Centre Wellington, I am against the permit that allows water bottlers to extract and export water out of our region. Read more

Thank you for the opportunity for communities to veto new permits to take water for water bottling. This is so essential and important to give the municipalities the final say. Please though ~ reduce the 379,000 threshold for the veto. Read more

I support the proposal that requires municipal support and gives municipalities veto power because it is the municipalities that will be directly and significantly affected by withdrawing of water from local groundwater supplies. Read more

It is my opinion that municipalities should have veto power over all new permits – big or small – including those taking less than 379,000 litres per day for water bottling. I agree with the municipal veto, but this 379,000-litre threshold is unacceptable.

While I agree with the municipal veto, the 379,000-litre threshold is unacceptable. It is too easy to skirt around, and Nestle will certainly has the resources to do just that. This is OUR water supply - and it should be protected. Thanks

I live in Elora Ontario. I agree with the municipal veto, but this 379,000-litre threshold is unacceptable. The threshold is simply too high. In fact, any amount of new water taking for water bottling is unacceptable let alone 379,000 litres every day. Please amend this latest legislation. Read more
