As a member of the Regional Public Works Commissioners of Ontario (RPWCO), the City of Hamilton is providing comments on the proposed Regulation concerning the
Hazardous Waste Fee Exemption Framework (ERO 019-2331)

The following comment represent information in the proposed Regulation that the City of Hamilton would like the MECP to consider as part of the development of the final Regulation:

1. Current fee exemptions: The City of Hamilton recommends that the future Hazardous Waste Program avoids any additional costs to be paid by municipalities for providing household Hazardous Waste programs for residents.
2. Future fees: The regulation should clearly identify the requirements for the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) to consult with hazardous waste program stakeholders prior to establishing or amending any fees related to the Hazardous Waste program.

The following comment is in support of the proposed Regulation:
1. The proposed administrative changes to move over and adjust related sections from the existing Regulation 347 (i.e. definitions, provide further clarity on fee payments) to the proposed Regulation will be beneficial to provide clarity on the requirements for the regulated community.
