The Ontario government does not have a mandate to avoid public consultation, especially when it comes to environmental assessment. The result will be to dilute environmental protections through disastrous acts like this one. The Ontario government has a legal obligation for full and transparent consultation on all environmental assessment questions with Indigenous communities and the public at large. This proposal is a disgraceful, and obvious, attempt to shirk the responsible practice of consultation. It is thus, directly undemocratic, and does not represent the will of Ontarians, rather it represents the influence on our province of a small number of developers and their agencies. I am outraged.
