The raft of MZO's has been absolutely devastating. In these days of Climate Change the environmental degradation caused by inappropriate application of MZOs is glaring.
In Stratford the MZO issued for the Xinyi Plant was coerced by non-transparent factions. 74% of Stratford residents oppose the issuance of the MZO.
Reasons:
-Doubling of annual carbon emissions for Stratford, with possibility of that being multiplied by future uncontrollable expansion of the plant.
-No public consultations on environmental emissions, other than perfunctory and glib dissertations from the Xinyi directorship.
- Stratford is a cultural hub for Canada and unfettered industrialization is abhorrent.
- International agreement under FIPA subjugates the water resources of Stratford to the needs of the glass plant; and reduces our city's ability to hold Xinyi accountable for future environmental mishaps.
-Finally, we cannot support an international regime that is using two of our Canadians as ransom for their political expediency.
PLEASE. WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT YOU RESCIND THE MZO FOR THE STRATFORD XINYI GLASS PLANT.
