Zoning orders must be…

Zoning orders must be repealed.

They have caused nothing but controversy, public outcry and outrage. They are too frequently associated with developers that have given donations to and/or have PC party insider connections. They are meant to be used as a means of last result and when there are genuine planning conflicts. The zoning orders that I have reviewed that have been endorsed by Vaughan Council and approved by the Minister often have long documented conflicts with natural heritage features, open LPAT appeals and sometimes both. Minister Clerk has clearly stated he would not approved zoning orders with open LPAT but has done that on at least one occasion in Vaughan. All have fundamental planning issues that still need to be resolved and surrounding infrastructure is not yet ready (roads, water, wastewater). The resulting negative externalities will be borne by the surrounding community and taxpayers. There is no red tape or duplication of process there are conflicts with when and how the developers want to develop the land they own that is compatible with approved local planning documents and acceptable to the community. This entire process has demonstrated a complete and utter unacceptable use of political influence to advance developers interests. Developers interest are not the same as public interests.

Elected officials have no business having this level of authority it is not governance and enables corruption. The PC Government slogan was For the People they have shown themselves to be For the Developers time and time again.

Several documents are attached supporting these conclusions.
