The changed to the requirements for bottled water renewal applications all make it EASIER to take water for this purpose, for longer permit times and with less public consultation. I absolutely oppose this, as every single person on the planet now knows that bottling water is a wasteful, polluting practice with no benefit except in emergency circumstances.
A 10 year permit length is absolutely ridiculous, as things change so much in a 10 year span - especially things in our natural environment. What may not be deeply harmful this year can be completely unsustainable in 10 years.
Removing the mandatory reductions in water takings during drought conditions for bottled water permit holders - Mandatory reductions by permitted large takers and in particular bottled water takers, during droughts should be legislated to ensure there is enough water for those whose need is a priority, like those of us on wells who depend on water to live and for our crops and livestock. Bottled water should be the bottom of the list of priority when water is in short supply.
