The Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC) is committed to protecting the Niagara Escarpment, a part of Ontario's Greenbelt. We recognize that Southern Ontario faces some of the greatest development pressures in all of Canada and continually work towards protecting this important part of Ontario's natural heritage.
The BTC is in favour of growing the size of the greenbelt, with attention being given to the Paris Galt Moraine and Urban River Valleys. Our concern lies with the implementation of infrastructure within the protected greenbelt area, and how this could potentially lead to ecological fragmentation and the destruction of natural habitats. Any proposal should be afforded a thorough environmental assessment in order to ensure the protection of Southern Ontario's most valued greenspace.
