Niagara on the Lake was the first capital of Upper Canada with an incredible amount of history and archeological sites. It is very prone to flooding and further development would greatly impact its frequency. Local wildlife is diminishing before our eyes even in the short amount of time my family has lived there the last 4 years. Tourism and the economy can still thrive without more hotels and housing. Protecting the ecosystem saves the region money in the long run from environmental cleanup costs due to water contamination and flooding damage.
