Preserving the Green Belt is the issue in Ontario that concerns me most. It dismays me to see rampant development north of Toronto, cookie-cutter subdivisions built with no respect for the natural areas they devastate. I lived on the Moraine for ten wonderful years in a beautiful area between Claremont and Uxbridge, and became aware of how critical the area is for wildlife in providing at least some contiguous natural habitat. The Moraine provides a vital stopover for migratory birds, as well having numerous wetlands for a great diversity of species to live. This pandemic has taught us we cannot deny our connection to nature. Further, I argue that we don't have the RIGHT to destroy habitat for all other species but our own!! It is so short-sighted to let the profit motive dictate all development.

The Green Belt should be expanded to protect precious watersheds and habitat, and to provide us with much-needed connection to green space, as well as ensuring some habitat remains for the many other species that share our planet.
