Every possible effort must be made to grow the Greenbelt now. It doesn't seem absolutely imperative now, but the years are passing, and every year the areas surrounding the Greenbelt experience one small degradation after another. In 50 Years, these degradations will be out of hand, and our wonderful natural heritage will be lost to all Canadians. Start with the rivers and river valleys. Then proceed with including woodlands and then wetlands into the protected area. The government should back land from developers slated for development.

The area south of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County is especially vulnerable, and was inexplicably left out of the Greenbelt years ago. Now is the time to enlarge the Greenbelt in that area to protect the Lake Simcoe Watershed and the Lake itself.

Please consider what the future holds if the Greenbelt is not enlarged: urban sprawl that benefits developers.
