I am a resident of the Township of Uxbridge and I strenuously object to this application for the following reasons:
1. The existing operation already creates unsafe conditions on the 7th Concession, with large numbers of trucks parked on the road, often blocking one lane -- an expansion of this operation will make this situation worse. The Township of Uxbridge has not demonstrated that it is able to address this concern.
2. The existing operation already threatens a significant aquifer. The Township of Uxbridge has not demonstrated its ability to manage groundwater on Oak Ridges Morraine.
3. The applicant has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of compliance with orders from Uxbridge Township; this seems likely to continue, as does the Township's inability to enforce them.
4. The Township of Uxbridge lacks the staff, the expertise and the resources to oversee this operation and to enforce compliance.
5. The transfer of oversight from this ministry to this (or any) township sets a very risky precedent for the unravelling of aggregate industry oversight.
6. This application offers no obvious economic benefit to the Township of Uxbridge or its residents; to the contrary, it imposes additional infrastructure and oversight burdens, along with significant environment risk.
