Growing the Greenbelt-ERO #019-3136-My Submission #4-Apr.19.2021
My citizen submission #4 to the ERO 019-3136 consultation on Growing the Greenbelt is made to bring your attention to an excellent summary 2021 report on “Moraines of the Greater Golden Horseshoe” prepared for a local Save the Moraine group from science-based information on Moraines in related Ontario geological files of governments, professional groups & researchers.
The highly significant moraine areas in the GGH in this summary are named as follows:
1. Paris-Galt Moraines
2. Waterloo Moraine
3. Wellington-Orangeville Moraines
4. Gibraltar- Singhampton Moraines
5. Oro Moraine
The hyphenated names above are GGH moraines that overlap in their glacial geology.
All of these Moraines in the GGH contribute as prime headwaters, clean water sources and recharge areas in the GGH and should be expansion areas in Growing the Greenbelt.
These significant moraines along with other drumlins, eskers, glacial outliers or shorelines and other smaller moraines, have also been referenced in my previous submissions.
I have posted/uploaded this “Moraines of the GGH“ summary report in the section provided for supporting documents in on-line submission of ERO 019-3136 comments.
I urge the Government to embrace this science-based report and timely opportunity to improve and safeguard our ecological excellence and regional resilience by Growing the Greenbelt in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH) for long term benefit of the People of Ontario.
Respectfully submitted,
Ontario Citizen, Farmer, Greenbelt Resident & Taxpayer
