There was very little transparency when the EDP wind turbine project encroached upon our rural life. Substations and turbines were placed on property lines close to livestock barns with absolutely no concern for how this would impact us. The idea that this is "green" is misleading. Hundreds upon hundreds of dump trucks of quality farm land was removed to create service roads for turbines. Wells were impacted, noise has become a factor and the disruption of every day lives due to shadow flicker is now the legacy of this project.
No community should have to endure this when the project was never needed. The government needs to be more accountable not just to advocates of clean energy but to the citizens who have been negatively impacted by projects in which they had no voice and now must live with the negative impact. Farming communities are critical to Ontario. Be more transparent and open to the voices of those who are impacted.
