Wind power has proven to be unreliable and largely out-of-sync with demand. With its priority to
the grid it has forced the spilling of water at the hydro dams and the dumping of surplus power in
neighbouring jurisdictions at a huge loss, $1.8 billion in 2020.
We need a new pricing mechanism for the sale of exports. Quebec makes hundreds of millions exporting power, and it is not all under contract either.
Our exported power is sold without the Global Adjustment, which makes up about 80% or more of the price of power.
