In response to questions regarding the anticipated heavy increased truck traffic from those vehicles hauling fill to the Miller Boyington Pit #3, members of Uxbridge Council suggested that a solution might be to widen the road from the Goodwood Road to the pit entrance to allow for the creation of a third lane. In addition to the number trees (including some old growth white pine) that it would be necessary to remove, such a change would also create potential traffic problems along Concession 7 and the Goodwood Road. Such a modification would also be extremely disruptive to those neighbours fronting that section of Concession 7 in terms of making it more difficult to access the road during the day, increased noise from the heavy truck traffic and increased levels of diesel exhaust fumes being emitted by the trucks. In short, approval of the application would have significant associated negative impacts on both neighbours and the local environment located on nearby properties.
