I live a short distance away from this pit, and am aghast at the proposal to establish a huge industrial operation there. From what I know, Miller Paving has flaunted the regulations and license provisions for many years, and it's time to stop this nonsense. They are not licensed to convert a legitimate aggregate pit into an industrial operation that threatens the environment and the drinking water below. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry needs to step up and do what we expect of it - to protect us and our environment. I understand the need for aggregate extraction, but insist that such operations be monitored by a competent authority, and that expired pits get rehabilitated (as their license requires), rather than surreptitiously transformed into major industrial operations, to the detriment of the community and of the environment.
