I am very concerned about the proposed change to be a permanent asphalt plant site under township oversight. I don't believe the township has the technical ability or resources to oversee or manage an operation of this size. The MNRF has more knowledge and rules to control all of these emissions.
As part of the aggregate resource license, the asphalt plant will have to shut down once the resources have been mined out. Transferring to the Township means that they can continue operating the asphalt plant forever (e.g. with other materials shipped in ) long after the mining on site has been completed.
I am very concerned about the implications this would have to my personal livelihood and the residents of Uxbridge. I have suffered from headaches for many years when the asphalt plant is running and the wind is blowing in our direction. We end up with a haze over the property and the smell is quite strong. This is very detrimental to my livelihood and my health. My work is outdoors and I can't continue working when this happens. I am also very concerned about the increased truck traffic we will have.
I do not believe this proposal is in the best interest of the taxpayers and residents of uxbridge. Miller entered into an agreement and should honour it.
