The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry needs, absolutely, to retain oversight over our vulnerable aquifer. This is the job of environmental experts, and should not be placed in the hands of townships, whose staff may lack the expertise and who may also be under pressure to put corporate interests ahead of the future of our environment and our children who inherit it. It is the job of MNRF to safeguard our natural resources.
Also, as I understand it, Miller has not rectified its non-compliance with its site plan over several years, and despite several notices. This kind of behaviour on the part of corporations should not be rewarded. Miller should have complied, and then filed any applications for changes. I am surprised that the application is even being considered, given this history of non-compliance.
