This proposal is not only dangerous, it is an insult to all operators who have trained to insure our water systems are maintained according to regulations. If you start allowing contractors without the approved tickets perform work on the water system, you are asking for another major incident similar to walkerton. The whole idea of the training and tickets to work on the drinking water system is to avoid such disasters in the future. These proposals would also send a message to all operators that the ministry does not believe the steps we follow are necessary for safety and could lead to an overall reduction in compliance. I strongly disagree with these proposed changes.
