As a farmer in southern Ontario, under Cap and Trade, I was looking forward to the potential to generate carbon offsets through changing the way I manage my farm to make it more efficient.
Cap and Trade is the cheapest way for the economy to reduce its carbon emissions, so it makes no sense to get rid of the Cap and Trade system. Just modify it if you think there are areas that need improvement to make more effective use of the revenues.
When I hear about what China and the United States (state level and large corporations) are doing about climate change, it is clear that this is all about competitiveness of economies. As an Ontario taxpayer, I don't want our economy to be left behind in the move to a more efficient, lower carbon economy.
