I have a pellet stove and have always believed that pellets were being made from waste wood, which nonetheless is not without a carbon footprint. but to learn that forests are being cut specifically to feed the pellet industry is completely unacceptable. I will stop using my stove or succeed in finding a product that is actually made from wood that would otherwise be wasted.
It is unacceptable and entirely unsustainable that we are cutting down forests to burn for heating energy. Governments must redirect their efforts to saving forests and supporting other and more sustainable ways to create energy, ie renewable energy.
