It is imperative that there are financial incentives to incentivize a low carbon economy. This will allow the free market to do what it does best, choose the best and cheapest ways to perform the incentivized tasks.

Taxes have been used for years to disincentivize what we dislike, like smoking tobacco, while still allowing people to have the freedom to do those actions if they choose. It is way better to have a carbon tax than an outright limit to the amount of carbon one person can produce.

Carbon taxes collected should be offset by a reduction in income tax. Why are we taxing something that we should promote when we can when can tax something we should dissuade?

There are clear financial detriments to having too much CO2 in the air, it's time that people start paying for using a communal resource.

If you compare the 13+ million people in Ontario to any other group the same amount people in the world, we have a much higher GHG output then the majority of those other sets. This is unjust because we all share the same atmosphere and we are all human beings.
