I urge the ministry to show leadership and responsibility and start protection of the Black Ash as soon as possible. We need all our trees to help retain and absorb carbon dioxide and help to mitigate climate change. It is irresponsible to delay protection. It will just lead to more rapid loss of the species as self-serving humans cut them down ahead of regulations. Some will cut them down despite regulations; we need to educate and provide incentives to save the trees.
