I am writing to add my voice to those who oppose any delay in the protection of the Black Ash under the Endangered Species Act. The science is clear, both COSEWIC and COSSARO have seen the research and agreed that Black Ash is an endangered species.
Black Ash and its habitat need to be conserved, for the sake of the species itself and for the residents of Ontario. We need all the natural habitat that is remaining to help us with climate change mitigation and the biodiversity crisis.
I call on the Ontario government to raise the protections for Black Ash habitat to an even higher level than it stands now, and preserve our natural habitats of all types so that we and Ontario citizens of the future can continue to prosper on this land.
