The proposal is ill-considered. Climate change is a serious and growing threat to global ecosystems and economies. It is important that every jurisdiction take action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in order to lessen the impacts of climate change.

Ontario's cap and trade program was a step in this direction. Eliminating this program without a credible alternative to reduce carbon emissions is irresponsible.
