Overall a refreshing simple proposal that makes sense. The WMU's in NW Ontario need further changes not proposed here. The deer populations in NW Ontario have fallen a solid 80% in the last 10 years. I live in a remote area of WMU #8 and see daily how the deer population has fallen. Many reasons for it. One being they are greatly over hunted by the use the extra tag system that still remains in place despite their low populations. Presently with the purchase of extra tags in WMU 8 I can legally take 3 deer. I can also purchase extra tags in neighbouring WMU's who offer them and take more deer. For many years now we have had large groups of hunters from various parts of Ontario come into NW Ontario and take full advantage of these extra tag to the fullest, to the point it was ridiculous as to the numbers of deer hunters harvested. The present deer population can no longer sustain this extra tag system and should be immediately suspended. I would propose no hunter in Ontario be allowed to harvest more than one deer per year by any means.
