Bow hunters should be allowed to continue to hunt during the controlled deer hunt weeks without needing to apply for a controlled deer hunt validation, as long as they wear hunters orange as per current regulations for gun hunters. If current "bow only" hunters start applying to the controlled hunt and being successful in the draw, they could be taking hunting opportunity away from gun hunters - I know a lot of "gun only" hunters who only hunt 1 week of the deer season during the controlled hunt - increasing the number of applicants by including "bow only" hunters to the draw pool (in wmus that don't have a 100% success rate for controlled hunt applicants) would decrease draw odds and limit opportunity for other hunters to participate. Why not allow bow hunters to continue to hunt with their bow during the controlled hunt weeks (as long as they wear hunter orange)? We could be increasing opportunity for those bow only hunters while not decreasing opportunity for "gun only" hunters.
