The attempted commencement of this repealing Act disheartens and embarrasses me. For a moment in time Ontario was looked at as a leader and as a jurisdiction from which others could take inspiration on the climate change front. With the proposal of this Act it is clear that those days are over.
In addition to the financial injury those who participated in the Cap and Trade system are now being exposed to, this Act is additionally unjust because it disallows any sort of recompense by these parties. This Act puts the people and businesses of Ontario at risk, and then further along in the Act makes it impossible for them to seek compensation.
While it may be legally possible to do so, it is ethically and morally bankrupt, and the architects of this design should be ashamed of themselves.
