I was excited to see this proposal, particularly the proposed amendment to allow the use of bows during controlled hunts. This excitement turned to dismay as I realized that WMU 91 and WMU 92 were left out, without any rationale or justification given.

The proposal states that its intent is to simplify and align hunting seasons. Why are WMU 91 and WMU 92 being left out, and being made different from adjacent WMUs? Surely this does not simplify or align deer seasons!

There is an obvious explanation. This stinks of political interference from one group of about a dozen politically connected elite "stakeholders" who notoriously resist change in these WMUs. They do not have a membership list and do not represent anyone beyond their dozen members, but they are given priority over the rest of us in the decision making process. It is obvious that they were consulted before the broader public and their input has been used to remove WMU 91 and WMU 92 from this proposal. This is a shameful abuse of process and flies in the face of the intent of the Environmental Registry.

I implore the Province to follow the stated intent of this proposal to simplify and align deer seasons by allowing the use of bows during controlled hunts in WMU 91 and WMU 92, as is proposed in adjacent WMUs. I also implore the Province to follow the intent of the Environmental Bill of Rights as a means by which residents of Ontario may participate in the making of environmentally significant decisions by the Government of Ontario. Consult the residents for their opinions, rather than consulting the political elite who claim to represent the residents!
