On behalf of the Association…

Comment

On behalf of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), we are pleased to submit comments in response to the consultation on proposed amendments to the producer responsibility regulations for tires, batteries and electrical and electronic equipment made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016.

AEM is the North American-based international trade group representing off-road equipment manufacturers and suppliers, with more than 1,000 companies and more than 200 product lines across the agriculture, construction, forestry, mining, and utility-related industry sectors worldwide.

Collectively, the Canadian equipment manufacturing industry supports 149,000 jobs and contributes roughly $45 billion per year to the Canadian economy.

AEM is supportive of Ontario’s proposal to amend producer responsibility regulations made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 with particular interest in the Tires Regulation.

AEM also supports Ontario’s stated objectives of the proposed amendments including reducing and/or removing burden, correcting market issues and increasing transparency.

We thank you for the opportunity to engage with you on this issue and would welcome further discussion in the future.
