I am very disappointed with this application by Metrolinx. I was watching a news report about how the plants are at risk because of the destruction of habitat for migrating birds and other animals. The species that are potential at risk with the Metrolinx proposed route for the North Subway expansion are endangered! There is no rational reason for the subway to have to go under the Pomona Creek at Royal Orchard. There is a viable alternative; under Yonge Street, as has long been proposed and previously approved. Environmental studies had been completed and the design plans in the works!
It is absurd, destructive to nature and to the humans that live along the Pomona Ravine. There has already been severe issues with erosion and flooding in this neighbourhood. Metrolinx should not be able to tunnel a subway where its only real issue is economic.
The cost for this plan should not be measured in just dollars. It should be measured in "sense" too!
