This is an absolute terrible idea to cancel the Ontario Cap and Trade program. The Program brings in revenue to the government which will now be lost. Not to mention the detrimental effects it will have on the environment by allowing carbon emitters to emit as much carbon as they want. This decision will end up costing more in the long-run since the current government has no plan to replace cap and trade, the Federal government will impose a Carbon Tax starting at $10 dollars per tonne and will eventually reach 50 dollars per tonne by 2022. Anyone who isn't a complete idiot knows that implementing a national carbon tax is within Federal jurisdiction so the lawsuit against the Federal government by Ontario will easily fail. This government has already shown, at multiple stages of its short mandate that it does not care at all for the people of Ontario, but rather, would focus on settling petty rivalries and just tearing down all the progress the province has made in the past 15 years. I strongly condemn this bill, and would believe it to be in the best interest of the government and the people of Ontario for it to be repealed. This is the Province of Ontario, not Ford Nation. Keep in mind 60% of the province did not want this government in power.
