I would like to see polluters pay, this seems the only sensible course. Otherwise perhaps incentives for environmentally conscious consumers and businesses is in order. We tax cigarettes and beer because these things are detrimental to society and so is pollution. Ignoring or denying the issue will just prove more costly in the long term. Better to spend now on initiatives now and reap the future benefits than saving now only to pay the price in the future.
