I am extremely disappointed the Galt-Paris Moraine after numerous very time consuming Consultations for the public and thousands and thousands of submissions has not been added to the Greenbelt.
The need is clear and with unanimous approvals of Bill 71 in the Legislature twice it is confounding that the government would now be opposed to its addition.
It is insulting to the people of Ontario who have participated in these consultations in good faith to see the pathetically small URV additions for already protected lands in the GTA be the only lands the government can find to protect in all of Ontario in the face of such rampant development. With almost every GTA river valley running into Lake Ontario already protected it is beyond belief that there is not a single Lake Erie watershed river protected despite more than 1 million Ontario residents solely dependent on the Grand River Watershed for all their water needs.
Please expand the Greenbelt over the Paris-Galt Moraine and the Grand River Watershed and the entire Bluebelt so clearly needing protection to balance the incredible growth pressures our province is experiencing.
A legacy of protection is going to be viewed far more positively by future generations than unbalanced, uncontrolled development destroying all our remaining farmland and greenspace.
