I strongly oppose this proposed pit addition on a present RU zoned farmland acreage across the road directly from my property which is adjacent to the Beaver River Class A Wetlands along which I have my property & residence also. We and other neighbours participate in CLIPT program to preserve the Natural charasteristic and wildlife habitat here and are proud Stewarts in preserving this currently quiet and peaceful natural location.
It seems absolutely senseless to encourage residential property owners here adjacent to the Class A Wetlands to protect them and then open a gravel pit 100 feet away which will definitely jeopardise the wetlands and the local diversified wild life that frequents this area. There are also about 32 residences in this area which enjoy the serene peaceful country lifestyle presently, which will be disturbed by pit operations which cause noise, dust (which can include Silica dust health hazard) stress to humans and also to the variety of wildlife that are inhabitants of this area. Wildlife like Bears, Deer, Wolfs, Coyotes, Turtle, Turkeys, Owls, variety of Ducks in spring, Herons etc.etc. are seen here constantly.
Pits cause total desecration of the landscape and what is lost is lost. Once this productive farmland is gone it cannot be revived ever again, period. Farmland acreage loss in Ontario is of major concern and should not be ignored.
