I am disappointed that the Green Energy Act was repealed and feel that, at the very least, the new energy efficiency initiatives should have been in place before the repeal. Ontario had an effective system in Cap and Trade that was working well for us and it was wasteful to repeal it.

I am concerned that Ontario will miss out on the opportunity to become a leader in green industries. Decisive action is required to address climate change, and that action must address not only large industries that pollute, but also the pollution that comes from personal transportation and heating.

I was disappointed to hear Rod Phillips say that only large polluters would be addressed in a policy. This not only misses out on reducing the significant carbon emissions that come from automobiles and housing, but ignores the personal savings that residents can get through more efficient transportation, heating and cooling. The Cap and Trade system was designed to help Ontario residents reduce their energy use, and as a result businesses that support energy efficiency could develop the tools and expertise needed for the green economy.

Please put programs in place that will support good "green" jobs in the automotive and renewable energy sectors and help all Ontarians reduce their impact on the environment.
