I disagree with repealing the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016, due to the fact that the new government has not completed any due diligence in understanding the act. It seems as though a great deal of taxpayer money will be wasted undoing the work that has been done. Climate change is real and needs to be dealt with. The premier appears to be looking after his cronies once again. The cap and trade program was not a tax as the premier constantly and incorrectly calls it. To lose any traction on climate change is an abysmal use of resources.
Although the government has not made any progress on reducing gasoline by the 10 cents per litre promised, the fact that they would even consider doing so thereby making it easier and cheaper to pollute is ridiculous. Stating that they will put $260 back in the pockets of each Ontarian is a waste of time and money. What will $260 really get anyone over the course of a year? Keep it and use it for sensible things like reducing emissions, ending hallway health care; adding programs for underprivileged areas.
