I just became aware of this proposal. I live in Bath, On, less than 10 minutes from the plant. Did not receive any notification of public consultation.
I am totally against this exception being granted.
Lafarge already has an emissions exception for their plant 5 minutes outside of town. Many times when we are on the golf course nearby we smell strong chemical smells. I don’t know what it is and if it is affecting our health. Diesel oil or residual oil as you call it has a higher level of pollution. There is also a new gas fired generation plant right beside Lennox which is natural gas fueled. No diesel. Lennox is old. Not sure of the investments in mechanism for containment of pollutants.
This proposed emission exception is well beyond the Ministry’s own recommended standards. Why do you set a standard when large companies in many industries are granted exemptions?
