Good Evening, I would like to submit a comment on the Regions OPA with respect to employment lands in Port Weller, in the City of St Catharines. The City wishes to maintain these lands as employment even though they do not meet the criteria of what an industry is looking for, a location that is close to 400 series highways. This area is almost 10 minutes away from such a highway, trucks will need to travel through residential neighbourhoods to get there and in the event the bridge across the canal is up, that truck will sit there for up to an hour. These lands have been zoned E2 employments lands since 1971, and much of the land is still vacant. Approx 60 acres. Let's study this area and attempt to make better use of these lands for residential/commercial/light industrial. Let's make this area into an attractive gateway into the city from the beautiful Niagara on the Lake tourist area. As an industrial area, this corner of St Catharines has languished for years and it is time to try something else.
