Hello,
This is not legislation that will any way address the housing shortage.
It does address the root cause of the issue and will do nothing but destroy established neighbourhoods and greenspace.
The population of Ontario is focussed in areas where green space is under tremendous pressure. All this legislation will do is decrease the people of Ontario's quality of life because this valuable green space will be lost to residential housing.
Are developers all of a sudden going to make houses more affordable because of this legislation? Absolutely not.
If you really want to address the housing crisis then a fulsome analysis of the root issues and then address in order to make meaningful change.
This is just another knee jerk reaction by a government that does not do any type of due diligence before it makes a decision and then will not be around to face the consequences of their poorly thought out and implemented ideas.
