As much as Ontario needs new housing, building on the green belt is not right. Taking land out of the current green belt and adding additional lands to make up / increasefor this is not the same as "not touching" the green belt.
As a voter this whole proposal is very disappointing, and releasing it on a Friday afternoon during the unrest with CUPE is a cowardly more so that the government doesn't have to answer questions about their proposal. If the government were interested in being transparent about this process you wouldn't have tried to bury it in the afternoon news cycle, further more you'd disclose the ownership of the lands that are proposed for removal and development. As well as what lands are proposed for addition to the green belt, so that voters can judge if your truly doing something which is required.
Housing can be built without needing to encroach on the current green belt, also additional land should be added to the green belt so that our native species have habitat that they can thrive in. Finally lands that are proposed for entry into the green belt should be lands that are not already protected by other conservation acts/laws.
