We should absolutely be safeguarding our environment in Ontario and not allowing any development into the Green Belt. The Green Belt provides vital ecosystem services and is home to a wide array of species. Many Ontarians enjoy the green spaces, and benefit from the food produced in the farmland of the Green Belt.
In 2021, the people of Ontario were promised by Ford and his government that the Green Belt would not be touched.
In order to build more homes to accommodate the growing population, we should be increasing density in cities - building more high rises and row houses, rather than taking valuable green space and farmland to achieve this goal. We should also be investing in public infrastructure and transportation to reduce the number of cars on the roads, and move more people more efficiently.
