The Greenbelt is a dearly important part of Canada, not just Ontario, that is necessary for the economy and survival of Canada and its residents. The Greenbelt provides incredible land for farming and agriculture and is one of the few remaining large natural spaces for native species to live and grow. Building on the Greenbelt would not only destroy these habitats, but also remove the possibility for sustainable agriculture and would, in the short- and long-run, be devastating to Ontario. It is a genuinely terrible and ridiculous idea to build on the Greenbelt. This land has been protected for so long because of how valuable and necessary it is. Solving a housing crisis should not come at the cost of destroying wildlife and agriculture.
