This is ridiculous. After the huge public outcry in 2018, Ford walked back his plans to develop the Greenbelt, saying that he was "listening to the people". But now, just a few short years later, he's storming ahead with his original plan, once again citing housing needs as a flimsy excuse. We had major housing needs 4 years ago and still insisted the Ford government leave the Greenbelt alone. Nothing has changed. We still have a housing crisis, the Greenbelt is still a vital resource that needs to be protected, and apparently Ford is still trying to line the pockets of his developer buddies at everyone else's expense.

Does he think we're stupid? That we don't see what he's doing? He's proposing the same wrong-headed plan that was dismissed 4 years ago. His plan points to a complete lack of understanding on how important it is to keep the Greenbelt intact. Turning it into swiss cheese and opening random pockets of "protected" areas does not have the same benefit. If he actually read the reports or was capable of understanding them, he'd see that but apparently his relentless greed makes that impossible.

you won the election not on your own merits Mr Ford but because there wasn't a viable contender to take your place. Don't mistake a win by default as a sign of carte blanche approval. We still know who you really are and this Greenbelt plan - and the recent attempt to strip away the charter rights of education workers - just proves what kind of person you are and where your loyalties really lie.

the people are watching and we are not amused.
