I oppose this plan.

The Greenbelt should be protected. Re-defining the boundaries of the Greenbelt to permit development is the opposite of protection.

The removal of Greenbelt land makes surrounding areas more vulnerable to natural disasters, such as flooding, which will increase in the coming years due to climate change. Yes, housing is needed. But destroying the Greenbelt is not the way to solve housing, especially since it would put the surrounding areas at increased risk.

It seems clear that these proposed developments are driven by the short sighted goals of profit hungry developers and are not in the best interest of Ontarians.

Finally, Doug Ford has repeatedly promised not to build on the Greenbelt. He know that protecting the Greenbelt is important to Ontarians. This proposal undermines the public's trust in Ford's word and clearly demonstrates that profits are more important than the well being and wishes of Ontarians.
