I strongly am against the proposed amendment to the Greenbelt plan. The location of the Greenbelt ensures that people in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Region have access to green space. It also prevents flooding, water shortages, and a collapse in biodiversity that would impact all of Ontario. Instead of ridding ourselves of some of the best preserved green space in Southern Ontario to build more low-density single family homes. We need to make our existing developed land more dense, walkable, and accessible for public transit so that everyone will have an affordable place to live, while having access to high quality greenspace.
